The Trincomalee District Secretariat commemorated the 72nd Anniversary of National Independence Day on 04th February 2020 under the theme of “Safe Land – A Prosperous Country “at the District Secretariat premises with the participation of the all staff attached to the Trincomalee District Secretariat.

The commemoration commenced with the hoisting of the National flag by the Acting Government Agent & District Secretary Mr. K. Arunthavarajah, followed by singing the National Anthem, and observing of two minutes silence in honor of the national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Mr. K. Arunthavarajah, the Acting GA addressed gathering. In his speech he mentioned that the country would not have been able to achieve today’s prosperity without the determination and the sacrifice of the national heroes from all ethnicity and religion, in safeguarding the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the country. He further stated that it is the duty of all staff who are gathered here to work towards from today for the development of the country.

Thereafter, a tree planting ceremony symbolizing the 72nd Anniversary of National Independence took place at the Trincomalee District Secretariat premises. Hon. Susantha Punchinilame, the State Minister for Small & Medium Enterprises accompanied with his staff joined the tree planting ceremony.

All staff officers including subordinate staff attached to the Trincomalee District Secretariat participated at the ceremony.
